Budget-Friendly Oil Painting Supplies

  1. Pre-stretched canvas from your local store or oil painting paper pad.

  2. Stabilo pencil for sketching.

  3. A simple digital projector lets you trace your reference photo directly onto the canvas.

    💡 Tip: You’ll need the right HDMI cable or adapter to connect the projector to your computer, tablet, or phone. Make sure to choose a cord that matches your device (Mac, PC, or mobile).

  4. Beginner paint set and slow-drying oil painting medium.

  5. Starter Brush Set:

    1. 1 × Small detail brushes — Round #00 or the smallest available

    2. 1 × Small filbert brushes — Filbert #2

    3. 2 × Medium round brushes — Round #2–#4

    4. 2 × Medium filbert brushes — Filbert #4–#6

    5. 1 × Large filbert brushes — Filbert #8–#10

  6. Disposable paper palette or paper plates.

  7. Bristle Magic Brush Cleaner.

  8. Gamblin Gamvar Gloss Varnish & a Foam brush.
